Factorising by Common Factor

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the highest common factor between two algebraic expressions. • Factorise an expression by removing a common factor and writing down what is left inside brackets. • Multiply out a factorised expression to check whether it was factorised correctly. • Recognise that a common factor can also be a bracket containing a binomial or trinomial. • Factorise an expression where all terms contain the same binomial or trinomial as a common factor.
