Factorising by Grouping

Learners will be able to:

• Identify algebraic expressions that cannot be factorized by taking out a highest common factor, as difference of squares or trinomials. • Factorize an expression using the grouping method when it is not possible to take out a highest common factor. • Recognize and group terms in an algebraic expression to facilitate factoring. • Extract k as a common factor from grouped terms in an expression. • Take out x plus y as a common factor from both terms of a grouped expression.
