Factorising Trinomials

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the structure of a trinomial expression in algebraic form. • Factorise a trinomial expression by grouping terms and using prime factorisation. • Determine the correct placement of signs within brackets to ensure that the original expression is maintained when multiplied out again. • Apply the method of factoring trinomials to a given example, x squared plus 4x minus 5. • Verify the accuracy of their factorised form by multiplying it back out.
