Equations and Inequalities Example 1 Solving Silmutaneous Equations

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the method of substitution as a way to solve simultaneous equations. • Simplify an equation by substituting y from one equation into another. • Determine that there is no solution to a set of simultaneous equations when simplification results in a false statement (e.g. 5 = 0). • Sketch graphs using the dual intercept method, including finding x and y intercepts. • Identify that two linear equations with equal gradients are parallel lines and therefore have no point of intersection.
