Difference Between Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences
Learners will be able to:
• Identify an arithmetic sequence as one where there is a constant difference between consecutive terms. • Describe the general rule for an arithmetic sequence in words (e.g. starting at 2 and increasing by 9 each time). • Identify a geometric sequence as one where successive terms are formed by multiplying by a constant value. • Describe the general rule for a geometric sequence in words (e.g. starting at 2 and keep multiplying by 3). • Apply the general rule of a geometric sequence to find any term, given the previous term and the common multiplier.
