Episode 2 — Trigonometry

Angles of Depression and Elevation

Learners will be able to:

• Describe the difference between an angle of depression and an angle of elevation in a trigonometry problem. • Identify that angles of elevation and depression are always measured in the vertical plane from the horizontal plane. • Explain why an angle of depression is equal to the angle of elevation in a right-angle triangle. • Use the tangent ratio to solve for the length of a side opposite a given angle in a right-angled triangle. • Calculate the length of a side in a right-angled triangle when given the angle and the length of the adjacent side.
