Finding an Unknown Angle in a Right-Angled Triangle

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the opposite side and hypotenuse in a right angle triangle given an unknown angle. • Use the sine function to calculate the size of an angle in a right angle triangle, given the lengths of two sides. • Solve for an angle using the inverse operation of the sine function on a calculator. • Calculate the third angle in a right angle triangle when one angle is known and the sum of interior angles is 180 degrees. • Apply the theorem of Pythagoras to solve for the length of a remaining side in a right angle triangle, given the lengths of two sides. • Use trigonometry (cosine or tangent) to calculate the length of an adjacent side in a right angle triangle.
