Ratio of areas in a Kite

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the formula for the area of a triangle as half the base multiplied by the perpendicular height. • Calculate the areas of triangles AEB and ABC using the given information from the diagram. • Determine that it is not necessary to know the length of EB when calculating the ratio of areas. • Solve for the ratio of the areas of triangle A, B, E to the area of triangle ACB by dividing their respective areas. • Interpret that a ratio of 3:8 represents the relationship between the areas of triangles A, B, E and ACB.
