Applying the Midpoint Theorem
Learners will be able to:
• Identify the midpoints of sides AB, AC and BC in triangle ABC. • Apply the Midpoint Theorem to determine that line segment DE is parallel to side BC and half its length. • Explain why angle AED is equal to angle ACB using corresponding angles. • Prove that angle DFB is equal to angle EDF by identifying alternating angles. • Determine that triangles DEF and CFE are congruent based on two equal corresponding side lengths with an included angle.
