Properties of the Exponential Function

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the characteristics of an exponential graph. • Explain why an exponential graph has only one horizontal asymptote. • Describe the effect on the graph when b is less than 0, greater than 1, and between 0 and 1. • Sketch the graphs of y = 2 × (1/2)^x and y = (3/2)^x. • Explain why the range of an exponential function with a base greater than 1 is from 0 to infinity.
