Sketching a Hyperbola Using a Calculator
Learners will be able to:
• Identify the equation y = -10/x as an example of a hyperbola in standard form. • Use a calculator's table function to generate coordinates for plotting the graph of y = -10/x. • Plot points with integer or whole number coordinates on the graph of y = -10/x using the generated coordinates. • Sketch the graph of y = -10/x, ensuring it does not touch the asymptotes (x and y axes). • Explain why there is no y-value when x = 0 in the equation y = a/x for any non-zero value of a.
