Distance Formula
Learners will be able to:
• Identify the right angled triangle formed by the horizontal and vertical distances between two points in a diagram. • Apply Pythagoras' theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse (AB) using the lengths of the other two sides (AC and BC). • Calculate AC by subtracting one Y value from another. • Calculate BC by subtracting the X values. • Solve for AB squared using the formula AB squared equals AC squared plus BC squared. • Find the square root of both sides to determine the length of AB.
