Measures of Central Tendency for Grouped Data

Learners will be able to:

• Calculate the midpoints of each interval in a grouped data set by adding the limits and dividing by 2. • Determine the estimated mean for group data using the midpoints and frequencies, by multiplying each midpoint by its frequency, summing these products, and then dividing by the total frequency. • Identify the modal class as the interval with the highest frequency. • Calculate the cumulative frequency to determine the median position in a grouped data set. • Interpret the median distance from the school for a given set of data.
