Measures of Dispersion

Learners will be able to:

• Calculate the range of a data set by finding the difference between the maximum and minimum values. • Identify the quartiles in a data set, including quartile 1, the median (quartile 2), and quartile 3. • Explain how the interquartile range (IQR) is calculated using quartile 3 minus quartile 1. • Calculate the semi-interquartile range by halving the IQR. • Describe the difference between deciles, which divide an ordered set into ten equal subsets, and percentiles, which divide an ordered data set into one hundred equal subsets.
