Representing Grouped Data using a Frequency Polygon
Learners will be able to:
• Describe the purpose of a frequency polygon in illustrating the shape of a distribution. • Identify the steps involved in creating a frequency polygon, including choosing a class interval and marking the middle of each class interval on the x-axis. • Sketch a frequency polygon by placing points at the height corresponding to the frequency of each class interval and connecting these points. • Explain how a frequency polygon is similar to a histogram in terms of intervals on the x-axis and heights of points on the graph. • Apply the concept of including one class interval below the lowest value and above the highest value for the graph to touch the x-axis on both sides.
