Volume and Surface Area of 3D Shapes
Learners will be able to:
• Identify the base of a cylinder or prism in order to apply the formula for calculating volume. • Apply the formula that says volume is equal to the area of the base multiplied by the height. • Calculate the surface area of a three-dimensional figure using the general formula: twice the area of the base plus the perimeter of the base multiplied by the height. • Use the formula x cubed to calculate the volume of a cube. • Calculate the volume and surface area of a rectangular prism using the formulas: length times breadth times height, and six times the surface area of one face respectively.
