Probability Definitions

Learners will be able to:

• Define probability as a real number between 0 and 1 that describes the likelihood of an event occurring. • Express probability using three different methods: as a real number between 0 and 1, as a percentage chance, or as a fraction. • Identify the meaning of a probability of 0, 1, and half in terms of the occurrence of an event. • Calculate the exact theoretical probability of one outcome occurring by finding the ratio of the number of outcomes of a specific event to the total number of outcomes in the sample space. • Apply the formula pe = ne / ns to find the theoretical probability.
