Episode 8 — Probability

Union and Intersection

Learners will be able to:

• Define the union of two sets in probability as A union B, which contains all elements in at least one of the original sets. • Identify the notation for the union of two sets, written as A or B. • Describe the intersection of two sets in probability as A intersection B, which contains all elements from both sets. • Explain that the intersection of two sets does not exist if there is no overlap between the sets. • Sketch and identify examples of unions and intersections of different sets.
