Episode 11 — Probability
Mutually Exclusive Events
Learners will be able to:
• Describe the concept of mutually exclusive events in probability theory. • Identify a Venn diagram as a tool for representing sample spaces and illustrating non-intersecting events. • Apply the identity for mutually exclusive events by calculating probabilities and demonstrating that P(A) + P(B) = P(A ∪ B). • Interpret the results of a Venn diagram to determine if two events are mutually exclusive. • Prove that two events are mutually exclusive using both visual representation (Venn diagram) and mathematical calculation.
