Probability Identities

Learners will be able to:

• Draw the sample space of all possible rolls using a Venn diagram for two identical dice thrown together. • Use a Venn diagram to represent and calculate the probabilities of two events, their union, and intersection. • Identify and write down the formula for the probability of the union of two events using the calculated values from the Venn diagram. • Apply the formula for the probability of A union B by substituting given values into the right-hand side of the equation. • Interpret the result of applying the formula to prove that it equals the value found from the Venn diagram.
