Special Angles

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the special angles (30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees, and 90 degrees) for which trigonometric ratios are simple to calculate. • Describe how to use a right-angle triangle with special angles to determine the values of adjacent and opposite sides. • Calculate the values of cos(60 degrees), sin(30 degrees), and tan(45 degrees) using the 30, 60, and 90 degree triangle. • Recall the trigonometric ratios for the special angles from memory using a table or diagram. • Apply the knowledge of special angles to solve problems without using a calculator.
