Episode 8 — Analytical Geometry
Equation of a Line
Learners will be able to:
• Identify the gradient-point form of a straight line equation as y minus y1 is equal to the gradient of m times x minus x1. • Calculate the gradient between two points using their coordinates. • Write the equation of a straight line in the standard form (y = mx + c) given its gradient and intercept. • Substitute one of the coordinates into the equation y minus y1 is equal to the gradient of m times x minus x1 to find the equation of a straight line. • Express the equation of a straight line in the form y = mx + c using its gradient and y-intercept.
