Synthetic Division

Learners will be able to:

• Identify the standard form of a cubic expression and its degree. • Explain how a cubic expression can be factorised into a product of a linear factor and an irreducible quadratic factor, or three linear factors. • Apply the remainder theorem to find the quotient and remainder when dividing polynomials using synthetic division. • Use synthetic division to factorise a cubic polynomial by dividing it by a linear divisor. • Calculate the coefficients of the quotient and remainder in synthetic division.
