Variance and Standard Deviation
Learners will be able to:
• Calculate the standard deviation using the formula: sum of (x - mean)^2 divided by number of data values, then square root it. • Use a scientific calculator, specifically the Casio FX82ZA Plus, to find the variance and standard deviation from a set of data. • Identify the correct menu options on the calculator to access variance and standard deviation calculations. • Apply the steps required to enter data into the calculator and calculate the standard deviation using the calculator's built-in functions. • Interpret the result obtained from the calculator for the standard deviation, including understanding that it represents the distance between each piece of data and the mean.
