Learners will be able to:

• Identify the different types of chemical formulae used in organic chemistry (structural, condensed, and molecular). • Write a condensed structural formula for a given molecule, including the use of brackets for side chains and repeated units. • Draw double bonds and side chains in a condensed structural formula. • Determine the molecular formula for a given molecule from its structural or condensed formula. • Apply the general formula for alkanes (CnH2n) to identify members of the same homologous series.
