Mechanics - Vertical Projectile Motion

Episode 3 — Mechanics - Vertical Projectile Motion

Graphs of Motion

Learners will be able to:

• Calculate the speed of an object from its position-time graph using the formula: speed = distance / time. • Identify the gradient of a position-time graph as representing the velocity of an object, and explain that it is constant if the velocity is constant. • Determine the displacement or change in position of an object by calculating the area under a velocity-time graph. • Calculate the acceleration of an object from its velocity-time graph using the formula: acceleration = change in velocity / change in time. • Interpret the shapes of graphs of motion, including position-time, velocity-time, and acceleration-time graphs, to determine the motion of an object.
