Episode 2 — Mechanics - Work, Energy and Power

Work, Energy and Power

Learners will be able to:

• Calculate the kinetic energy of an object using the formula E k equals one half times its mass times its velocity squared. • Determine the speed of a car given its mass and 450 kilojoules of kinetic energy. • Calculate the gravitational potential energy of an object using the formula E p equals m times g times h. • Find the mechanical energy of an object by summing its kinetic and gravitational potential energies. • Apply the law of conservation of mechanical energy to a system with no external dissipative forces acting on it.
