• Calculate the observed frequency of a sound wave in water using the Doppler equation when given the source frequency and speed of sound. • Determine whether an object is approaching or receding based on the relationship between the observed and source frequencies. • Apply the correct sign (plus or minus) for the source velocity in the Doppler equation depending on whether the source is approaching or receding. • Solve a problem using the Doppler equation when given two different scenarios with unknown variables, including the speed of the source. • Manipulate equations to isolate and solve for the velocity of the source or car using algebraic techniques.
