Episode 9 — Acids and Bases
Titration Calculations
Learners will be able to:
• Calculate the concentration of an acid using the results of a titration and the formula: number of moles divided by volume in decimeters cubed. • Write a balanced equation for the reaction between a strong acid and a weak base, including the correct mole ratio of acid to base. • Determine the number of moles of a substance with known concentration from its concentration and volume in decimeters cubed. • Calculate the concentration of an unknown substance using the mole ratio of acid to base in a balanced equation. • Apply the steps to solve titration problems, including calculating the number of moles of the known substance, writing a balanced equation, determining the mole ratio, and calculating the concentration.
