Learners will be able to:
• Identify the properties of electromagnetic radiation that distinguish it from other types of waves. • Explain how electromagnetic waves are produced by the movement of charged particles and the interaction between electric and magnetic fields. • Calculate the frequency of infrared rays given their wavelength using the wave equation. • Use the wave equation to calculate the energy of a photon, either by substituting frequency or wavelength. • Describe the effects of ionizing radiation on living cells and tissues.
