Learners will be able to:

• Identify the energy input, useful energy output and wasted energy output for household appliances such as a blender and a car • Calculate an unknown percentage of useful or wasted energy in a system, given the law of conservation of energy • Interpret Sankey diagrams that show multiple energy outputs (e.g. a car's kinetic energy for movement and for lights/radio/battery) • Explain why energy efficiency is important in terms of cost, use of non-renewable resources and environmental pollution • Compare the energy efficiency of different systems (blender, car, television) using percentages from Sankey diagrams
