• Define conduction as a method of heat energy transfer • Describe how heat energy is conducted through a substance in terms of particle vibration and collision • Explain why solids are generally better conductors of heat energy than liquids or gases • Use everyday examples (such as a metal spoon versus a wooden spoon) to explain differences in conduction • Explain why conduction requires objects or particles to be in contact with one another
