Types of Energy

Learners will be able to:

• Distinguish between the source of energy and the type of energy. • Define potential energy as stored energy and kinetic energy as movement energy. • Identify potential and kinetic energy in everyday systems (e.g. a ramp, hammer and nail, soccer ball, pendulum). • Explain that energy can be transferred from potential to kinetic energy within a system. • Give examples of stored (potential) energy in fossil fuels and batteries.
