Learners will be able to:

• Explain how compressing or stretching a spring increases its elastic potential energy. • Explain the relationship between potential energy and kinetic energy in a system. • Investigate how mass, height/position and friction affect the amount of potential and kinetic energy in a system. • Define gravitational potential energy and describe the factors (mass and height) that affect it. • Explain how friction converts kinetic energy into heat energy, causing a moving object to slow down.
